About David
David is a DFX Supervisor at Union.
David studied Computer Science at the University of Cape Town before relocating to the UK in 2007 and beginning a career as a professional software developer. He soon moved into a software role within the VFX industry.
He spent ten years at MPC, first working in the software department and then moving into an FX TD role during the production of Guardians of the Galaxy. He proceeded to work on major studio projects including Terminator Genisys, Fast and Furious: Supercharged, Fantastic Four and Suicide Squad before taking the lead FX role on such projects as The Jungle Book, Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge and The Lion King. He has twice been nominated for a VES award in the category Outstanding Effects Simulations in a Photoreal Feature, winning for his team's work on The Jungle Book.
David joined Union in 2020 and divides his time between creative supervision of projects, development of the CG pipeline, and liaising with the pipeline team to communicate project requirements and problem solve where required.
